The Disaster Management for Water and Wastewater Utilities course provides students with
information on various issues concerning preparing for, responding to, and recovering from
incidents affecting water and/or wastewater facilities. The course introduces the various natural
and man-made (accidental or intentional) hazards to which water and wastewater systems may
be vulnerable and the potential effects the hazards may induce. Planning for and managing
incidents are discussed, as well as disaster mitigation, response and recovery specific to drinking
water and wastewater systems.
