Event Description

Preparing for the Unimaginable: Basic Critical Incident Stress Debriefing and Acute Traumatic Stress Management (nccc-8-001)

This class is ideal for Law Enforcement, Emergency Services, Emergency Mangement, and Fire Personnel. We prepare for Critical Incidents such as an Active Shooter at a School or Night Club, an act of Workplace Violence, an Officer Involved Shooting, or an Act of Terrorism. But we do not always prepare for the aftermath and recovery of the incident. This two-day class utilizes a combination of the Mitchell Model and the FBI Model. The class is designed to teach students how to accurately assess and effectively intervene with individuals and groups experiencing critical incident stress and trauma. CISD is NOT mental health therapy. It prepares participants to understand a wide range of crisis intervention services including pre and post incident crisis reactions, on scene support services, crisis intervention for individuals, mobilization after a group large scale traumatic incident, individual defusing, and debriefing. Students will participate in role playing and complete a written test.
