The purpose of this 8-hour, DHS/FEMA-certified, tuition-free course is to provide participants tools that aid in the prevention of a small vessel incident and to assist them in increasing response capabilities and critical thinking skills should an incident occur. This awareness-level course will assist in developing vital partnerships between governmental and nongovernmental agencies who will be involved in any major maritime incident. AWR 311 promotes regional intelligence-gathering and offers examples of best practices utilized in other areas of the country. This course provides information about, as well as promotes cooperative maritime security initiatives such as the Area Maritime Security Committees (AMSCs), America’s Waterway Watch (AWW), the Citizens Action Network, See Something Say Something, Shiprider Program, Northern Border Initiative and Focused Lens.
