This workshop will provide an overview of the flooding and flash flooding products and services available from the National Weather Service before, during, and after storm events. After the presentations, a tabletop exercise focusing on making potentially life-saving weather preparedness and safety decisions will be conducted. Participants should bring their laptops with them, as the exercise will include online activities requiring retrieving severe weather data and mock communications utilizing online tools.
There will be two sessions. Session 1 from 8:30 AM until Noon, and Session 2 from 1 PM until 4:30 PM. The program will be for emergency management personnel, public safety, and first-response organizations. Also, for public information officers, nonprofit and volunteer organizations, municipal staff, and other community partners. Both workshops are open to the personnel above and officials from the following 12 counties: Surry, Stokes, Rockingham, Caswell, Yadkin, Forsyth, Guilford, Alamance, Davie, Davidson, Randolph, and Montgomery.
