Time: Day 1 (1:00-5:00pm), Day 2 (9:00am-5:00pm), Day 3 (9:00am-5:00pm), Day 4 (9:00am-1:00pm)

Description: The Adult Care Licensure Section (ACLS) offers Basic Orientation Training at least twice per year for new ACLS staff, County Departments of Social Services (DSS) Adult Home Specialists, and County DSS Supervisors. The primary goal of this training workshop is to enhance the knowledge and skills of new staff in the inspection and monitoring of adult care homes.  Topic areas include: survey/monitoring protocol; compliance tools; principals of documentation; medication management; food service; staff competency; health care; personal care; and licensed health professional support.

Pre/Post Requisites: Prior to attending Basic Orientation Training, staff should be familiar with their role in surveying and monitoring adult care homes.  Opportunities for state mandated pre-basic and post-basic orientation training are offered in the form of state survey activity.  Please contact your regional team survey supervisor for scheduling information.

Effective July 1, 2009: Copies of the Basic Orientation Training Manual will no longer be printed and provided at the training. Training participants are responsible for printing a copy of the training manual to bring with them to the workshop. The manual contains all training material for the ACLS Basic Orientation Training Workshop.  Please bring your licensure rule books and download a copy of the current manual from the ACLS website.

Please note: It is the responsibility of the County DSS to cover the cost of the associated travel and per diem expenses of the training workshop for their staff.
