INTRODUCTION TO WILDERNESS SEARCH AND RESCUE
Description
This class is designed to provide knowledge concerning the general responsibilities, skills, abilities, and the equipment needed to respond to a search and rescue mission.
Expectations and Goals
Upon completion of this introductory class, participants should have the knowledge to:
- Define wilderness SAR
- Define the components of SAR operations and necessary equipment
- Have a basic understanding of map and compass reading/Land Navigation
- Understand basic SAR techniques
- Have some knowledge of Clue Awareness and Lost Person Behavior
Who Should Attend
Individuals who have completed CERT Basic Training and have an interest in becoming involved in wilderness search and rescue.
