Line of Duty Death: Preparing the Best for the Worst (HCC-0066)

One of the toughest situations to face is the line of duty or other unexpected death of a responder. The administrative and logistical aspects are often overwhelming to those individuals and agencies that are ill prepared. This course will address many of those issues as well as give special attention to pre-incident planning and proper follow-up services. This interactive class has been designed to prepare Emergency Service providers, military personnel, school administrators, municipal officials as well as CISM teams who may need to address a Line of Duty Death, Suicide or other unexpected death.

Instructed by: Paul Jockimo

Paul Jockimo is a recognized leader in the field of Critical Incident Stress Management and Line of Duty Death. Formerly with New York City Fire Department, Paul currently works for Westchester County Department of Emergency Services and is the founder/president of Peer Support Networks, Inc. Paul has provided direct intervention services, coordination or consultation to numerous high-impact events to include: Worchester, MA Cold Storage Warehouse Fire (1999); World Trade Center, NY, CISM Support Services (2001-2002); Moody Air Force Base, GA, Downed Aircraft (2003); Hurricane Katrina (2005); Lakewood, WA, Multiple Police Fatality Shooting (2009); Newtown CT School Shooting (2012). The subject of the 1974 book: "Don't Feel Sorry for Paul", he brings his unique life experience to his teaching style.
