Primary Learning Objective: The objective of this course is to enhance the capabilities of field Search and Rescue (SAR) personnel by increasing their individual abilities to perceive and process clues during SAR responses.
Course Description:
- This course is designed to increase the capabilities of individual SAR personnel through recognition of human physiological limitations and through the development of mechanisms to overcome those limitations.
- Students will be introduced to the capabilities and limitations of the five senses and the human brain and their relationship with clue recognition during SAR operations. Students will then be introduced to several methods to overcome human physiological limitations to maximize their abilities to identify clues in the field during SAR operations . Participants will also be introduced to a variety of hazards to safety found in the field and their relationship to clue awareness. Students will then experience several field evolutions which reinforce the earlier classroom lessons. ,)
- Successful completion of this course will increase the success of individual searchers in identifying clues and lead to a more efficient and successful SAR response overall.
