Event Description

Winlink Radio Email Training for NC AUXCOMM (NC-8905)

Winlink Radio Email Training for NC AUXCOMM This is a Virtual offering requiring self-paced on-air participation:

Winlink Radio Email Training for NC AUXCOMM is a hands-on series of ten mentored exercises that can be completed on a self-paced schedule within three months. It is recommended for new operators and as a refresher for others. Successful completion of all ten exercises will earn a certificate providing proof of competency to obtain sign offs of the Winlink portion of NC AUXC Position Task Book.

The series is designed to be experienced through the hands-on use of the Winlink Global Radio Email system and software. You will set up a client program on a Windows computer for a Winlink station of your own—either your home station, or a portable one. You will create a Winlink radio email account, if you haven’t already, and receive and send messages containing your responses to exercise tasks. Each exercise will delve into different areas of the system of software so you can learn by doing, as you can, when you can at your own pace. One or more course Mentors will be ready to review your responses, comment as needed, answer your questions, and encourage your actions. To complete an exercise, you retrieve the next on in the series using instructions given in each exercise. Though the series is self-paced, you will get the most benefit if you make an effort to complete each exercise within a few days of receiving it. In order to qualify for NCEM AUXCOMM credit and a completion certificate, your mentor may ask you to complete the series by a certain date.
