Are you prepared with hazardous material and pre-planning knowledge for an unexpected chemical release within your community? This course will equip emergency managers with an understanding of the Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), NC Department of Labor Hazardous Chemicals Right to Know, America’s Water Infrastructure Act (AWIA) and Risk Management Program (RMP).
Questions will be answered such as: What is the responsibility of hazardous chemical storage facilities within an emergency planning district? What emergency planning information are they to provide and coordinate with emergency responders? How do planners identify facilities that may need to provide chemical storage and planning? What information are Local Emergency Planning Committees and emergency managers required to share with the public? What’s the difference between facility planning and how does it integrate into community planning? Scenarios will walk through emergency notifications and an overview of local, regional and state hazmat response capabilities.
