Event Description

ALOHAŽ (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) (NC-10-005)

ALOHA® (Areal Locations of Hazardous Atmospheres) is the atmospheric hazard modeling program for the CAMEO® software suite (Computer-Aided Management of Emergency Operations), which is widely used to plan for and respond to chemical emergencies. This course would provide the basis for proper up-to-date software utilization, while developing an understanding of air-model practices.

Each training session is open to the Regional Response Teams, local HAZMAT Teams, first response, and planning personnel.

These sessions will be delivered by EPA certified CAMEO Instructors and will be customized to North Carolina based upon the recently developed CAMEO database by Emergency Services.

ALOHA allows you to enter details about a real or potential chemical release and will generate threat zone estimates for various types of hazards. The program can model toxic gas clouds, flammable gas clouds, BLEVEs (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosions), jet fires, pool fires, and vapor cloud explosions. Threat zone estimates are shown on a grid in ALOHA, and they can also be plotted on maps in MARPLOT® (Mapping Application for Response, Planning, and Local Operational Tasks), ESRI's ArcMap, Google Earth, and Google Maps.

All student materials, including the use of laptop computers will be provided during the sessions. Participants must attend both days.
