Event Description

EHPC Radiation and Chemical Surge Tabletop Exercise (EHPC 0027)

This exercise is a four-hour tabletop exercise conducted in-person to exercise and test the EHPC regional Radiation and Chemical Surge plans. Hospitals and EMS agencies within the EHPC region are invited to attend. Lunch will be provided.

Exercise objectives:

  • Assess the ability to appropriately and realistically verbalize the regional decontamination processes and abilities. (DECON)
  • Test the first responder’s ability to appropriately triage chemical/nuclear exposure patients utilizing the SALT method. (TRIAGE)
  • Assess the region’s ability to determine specific decontamination and treatment nuances for nuclear exposures.  (DECON & TREATMENT)
  • Test the region’s ability to identify chemical and/or nuclear exposure risks. (IDENTIFY RISKS)
  • Test the coalition and regional hospital's ability to notify chemical / radiological subject matter experts within an appropriate timeframe. (IDENTIFY AND INCORPORATE SME’S)
  • Determine the threshold (number of patients) trigger to constitute a chemical / radiological TRAUMA patient surge
