The course is geared towards local government employees responsible for floodplain management but who have little or no training and formal education in the field of floodplain management and/or the National Flood Insurance Program.
Workshop topics include the basic information any individual new to the position may need to effectively perform their floodplain administrative duties. Topics are a basic introduction to the field describing the Duties of a Floodplain Administrator, Preparing for a Community Assistance Visit (CAV), Available Training for FPAs, Basic Insurance Information, How to Access the New Flood Risk Information System (FRIS), Building Codes – How they contrast and compare with NFIP regulations and The Basic Tie-ins with Mitigation Planning & Projects Involving Floodplain Management.
