Supporting Individuals with Access and Functional Needs Before, During, and After a Disaster (NC-6-001)

Access and Functional Needs (AFN) refers to individuals with and without disabilities who may need additional assistance or support in an emergency.  It is important to take steps to incorporate the needs of AFN populations in local emergency planning efforts, recognizing that even small steps can make a big difference. In this training we will discuss strategies to support individuals with Access and Functional Needs through all stages of a disaster, including topics such as planning, sheltering, communication, and recovery.

Audience: Local emergency managers, NCEM, first responders, local health departments, DSS, VOADs, community partners, etc.
