Event Description

Applying AI to the PHEP Cycle: Practical Uses, Risks, and Guardrails (PHEP Cycle 100)

In response to the North Carolina Public Health Preparedness & Response Branch’s request for a workshop exploring the application of artificial intelligence (AI) to public health emergency preparedness, Evident Analytics proposes an interactive workshop designed specifically for PHEP and HSEEP practitioners.

This workshop moves beyond simple AI tool demonstrations. It is structured to equip state and local preparedness professionals with:

● Practical understanding of generative AI capabilities

● Hands-on exposure to AI applications within the PHEP/HSEEP cycle

● Structured frameworks for determining when AI strengthens preparedness systems—and when it may unintentionally weaken them

Preparedness systems depend not only on documentation and process compliance, but on relationships, tacit local knowledge, and judgment. This workshop helps participants integrate AI in ways that enhance efficiency without undermining those human capacities.
