This course is designed to educate all parties involved in the response to an incident at a fixed nuclear facility.  It will be focused on Ingestion Pathway Zone (IPZ) functions at an introductory level for counties considered to be in the 50 mi Ingestion Pathway Zone of one of the 12 facilities which may directly impact North Carolina in the event of a release of radionuclides from a facility.  During this course, attendees will be provided an overview of the Radiological Emergency Preparedness (REP) Program, protective action decisions that counties consider during these events to protect the public, and well as discussions on state and Federal support partners such as NCDHHS RPS, NCDA&CS, and FRMAC.  Course will also introduce topics such as State REP Plan Annexes and describe how Field Monitoring Teams (FMTs) perform community environmental sampling while NCDA&CS programs use the analysis to take food safety protective actions.  This course will serve as an introductory overview of many IPZ concepts and is part of the REP IPZ training series.
