Online Course Description

Course Description The CHEMPACK Program of North Carolina: Preparing for a Response to a Nerve Agent Exposure was developed by North Carolina Public Health Preparedness & Response and North Carolina Poison Control. Nerve agent exposures have the potential to cause a mass casualty incident requiring urgent intervention. Knowledge of the CHEMPACK program in North Carolina is key to developing a rapid response strategy. This presentation will begin with an overview of organophosphate poisoning by both pesticides and war agents. Antidote therapies housed in CHEMPACK containers, and their uses and limitations, will be identified. Lastly, the CHEMPACK Program of North Carolina will be discussed, including planning considerations for implementing a CHEMPACK response plan in your jurisdiction.
