National Emergency Management Basic Academy
The 2024 North Carolina offering of the National Emergency Management Basic Academy has been posted to NC TERMS.
The National Emergency Management Basic Academy (NEMBA) is a gateway for individuals pursuing a career in emergency management. Similar to basic academies operated by the fire service and law enforcement communities, the National Emergency Management Basic Academy will provide a foundational education in emergency management.
The goal of the Basic Academy is to support the early careers of emergency managers through a training experience combining knowledge of all fundamental systems, concepts, and practices of cutting-edge emergency management. The Academy provides shared classrooms of adult learners and skillful instructors resulting in a solid foundation upon which to build further studies and sound decisions.
L-101 Foundations of Emergency Management: March 11-15 2024
L-102 Science of Disaster: March 25-27 2024
L-103 Planning: March 28-29 2024
L-146 Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program: April 8-9 2024
L-105 Public Information Basics: April 10-12 2024
Students must complete the most updated course pre-requisites to attend these courses. Upon completion of all 5 courses (does not have to be completed within this Academy) the student will be awarded an Emergency Management Institute NEMBA Certificate.
New Email Subscription Feature Added:
TERMS has updated the way new course offerings are communicated to you. Please take a moment to update your subscriptions. This new feature allows you to be notified only for classes you need versus all newly added classes. To subscribe to notifications of courses you are interested in, please go to “My Account” then “Course Notifications” on your profile. From the course notifications page, you can select what courses you are interested in and elect to receive weekly emails on any new offerings. Additional information on this new feature can be found in the Course Specific Notifications document in the Document Library. If you choose not to update your subscriptions, you will not receive emails from TERMS making you aware of new class offerings.
NCEM Training staff are accepting training requests from local emergency managers and will prioritize classes based upon timing, logistical support, instructor availability, and other factors. If you have training needs, please complete the training request located in the document library of TERMS and submit as directed on the form.
